An exciting project for the kids of the Lithgow Local Government area is about to get underway.

“The recent announcement of funding under the State Government’s Stronger Country Communities fund for the construction of an Adventure Playground at Endeavour Park is very exciting,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Stephen Lesslie.  “The total cost of this project will be at least $1,400,000 which includes a Council contribution of $200,000 to date and further Council contributions to come.”

To date the Council has expended funds on the development of concept plans (pictured) and tender designs for the playground which incorporate elements of local heritage and environment into fun play areas for children. The design has been able to utilise the natural slope of Endeavour Park to great advantage.

Council has also recently spent $200,000 on new toilet facilities at Endeavour Park which will be a great benefit to those families using the playground. Once the funding Deed of Agreement is signed, Council will call for tenders to construct the playground and it is anticipated that works will be completed by mid 2019.

“Development of a project can take some time from initial consultation and planning stages to construction and Council understands that at times the community may feel that projects are left on the ‘back burner’ so to speak,” said Mayor Stephen Lesslie, “The community however can rest assured that we are continuing to work very hard on this project and will continue to update you as significant milestones occur.”
