Council calls on community to share their experiences of dogs in public spaces
The current Dogs in Public Spaces Strategy was originally adopted in 2017 and is being reviewed by Council. A survey is now open as part of Council’s first stage of community consultation to shape this strategy.
The survey will help Council understand what’s working well, what could be improved, and how community expectations have changed, particularly around dog off-leash areas and responsible dog ownership in shared public spaces.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill encouraged everyone to take part in the easy-to-complete survey.
“Dogs are such an important part of life for many people in the Mountains," Cr Greenhill said.
"But we need to understand the wants, needs and thoughts of the whole community, so we can ensure the management steps we take mean everyone can live harmoniously."
“This is your opportunity to have a say in how we balance the needs of dog owners with the wider community in our shared public spaces.”
The Dogs in Public Spaces Strategy survey is open from 9am Monday 14 April to 5pm Wednesday 21 May 2025 and can be completed online at here
