Concept designs released for new pathway on Singles Ridge Road

The project proposes a path between Vendetta Road, Winmalee and Yellow Rock Road in Yellow Rock to improve safety and access for walkers and riders.
The project is currently in the planning and scoping phase with topographic surveys being undertaken for the length of the proposed route.
Council is also inviting the community to view the preliminary concept designs for the pathway and to share their experiences to help inform the next stage of the project.
The project is part of the Blue Mountains Active Transport Links program, which aims to improve our streets with safe and sustainable links between key destinations and towns across the Blue Mountains.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “No matter where we live, it is important for everyone in our community to be able to access and enjoy our streets, safely and easily.
“Our community’s vision is for everyone to be able to walk and ride as much as they want, where they want. Whether you are on foot, moving with the help of a mobility device like a wheelchair, or pushing a child in a pram.
“This project is part of that vision and once completed it will be a major step toward a properly integrated, safe and sustainable transport network for our city.”
The project is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program.
Member for Blue Mountains Trish Doyle said, “I’m always very pleased that the NSW Government provides funding support to Blue Mountains City Council for these important safety, accessibility, and sustainability upgrades.”
Council also received funding through the Australian Government’s Black Spot program for improved road safety, to deliver a separate package of critical upgrades in the area.
This separate works program, which is anticipated to commence at the end of February (weather permitting), will deliver safety improvements along a roughly 2km stretch of Singles Ridge Road, between Heather Glen Road and Purvines Road.
Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman said, “It’s great to see this road being a priority for Council, and that a combination of Federal and State funding has been accessed.
“As the single road in and out, residents and their visitors depend on it being built for safety and I’m pleased that our uplift in the Black Spot funding is helping achieve that.”
