Community invited to view draft designs for Hazelbrook Village Upgrade
A pop-up information stall will be held in the village centre from 8am to 11am, Saturday 29 November, where Council staff will be available to answer questions and collect feedback in person.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “The Hazelbrook Village Upgrade builds on Council’s ongoing work to revitalise and strengthen our towns and villages.
“Hazelbrook is a vibrant, close-knit village, and this upgrade willhelp to make it a safer, more welcoming and inclusive place where our community can come together.”
Council worked with the community to identify priorities for the upgrade program, with feedback gathered during consultation in October and November 2024 helping to shape the draft designs now on public exhibition.
The current consultation phase will inform the final designs, with works anticipated to be completed in 2027.
The scope of the upgrade program includes:
- A new accessible link from the lower carpark to the village centre
- footpath upgrades and improved seating
- new bicycle parking rack and water re-fill station
- street tree plantings and landscaping
- improved crossings and lighting for better pedestrian safety
- public art and new cultural and heritage interpretation
- improved navigational signage.
The Hazelbrook Village Centre Masterplan was created following extensive community consultation in 2017-2018. It provides a framework for infrastructure renewal and improvements to the public domain of the Hazelbrook village.
Council was awarded $2.1 million via the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program to deliver the improvements at Hazelbrook. This is in addition to funding for improvements at Katoomba, Glenbrook and Blaxland.
