Community Invited to Have Their Say on New District Park Upgrades
These are just two of the 10 projects that will be completed across the Blue Mountains as part of this program over the next three years, providing a welcome boost to community infrastructure and public spaces. Upgrades are also occurring at District Parks at Glenbrook and Blackheath.
Wentworth Falls Lake Park
The proposed upgrades and funding will include an accessible walkway over the dam wall to a new accessible viewing platform, improvements to the dam wall to support that walkway, and a new multi-purpose shelter.
These works will complement previous works done at Wentworth Falls Lake Park, and ensure more people can spend longer enjoying this popular and beloved nature spot.
The community can read all about the project and complete the online survey until Sunday 5 April:.
The upgrade of Buttenshaw Park in Springwood will create an adventure playground for older kids, including activities for teenagers.
Providing spaces for youth of all ages to feel welcome and engaged in our community is important. We have over 100 parks and more than 50 playgrounds across the mountains. Every park is different and Council is working to ensure we provide varied play types and experiences for all ages.
“Youth are often overlooked in this respect and it’s vitally important that we provide them with safe spaces,” Mayor Greenhill said.
“We encourage young people in the Blue Mountains to tell us what types of equipment they’d like to see included in the design, by using our interactive, digital tool that lists different types of equipment and how much these pieces of equipment cost.
“Choices will help the designers understand what sorts of equipment should be included in the upgrade.”
Use our interactive online tool to select equipment for Buttenshaw Park. The Funbobulator, and a short online survey, are available until Sunday 19 April.
Council is also completing a Plan of Management and Masterplan for both Wentworth Falls Lake and Buttenshaw Park, and need the community’s help to guide these documents that will determine future use of the park. These plans will include the City Deal upgrades, as well as a broader plan for the both parks.
