Community has Their Say on Glenbrook Park Stage 2
The top choices were the Flying Fox (488 votes) and in-ground trampolines (407 votes) and these will definitely be included in the design. Council is now working with the playground designers to explore how many of the other popular items can also be incorporated into the park design.
“We received a fantastic response to our Funbobulator – the online tool to select playground equipment,” Mayor Mark Greenhill said. “We also had more than 50 people attend our activity day at the park, to provide feedback, and 14 responses in relation to our special needs survey.”
Council staff also met with other stakeholders including the Glenbrook Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of the Lower Blue Mountains, the Country Women’s Association, Glenbrook & District Historical Society and special needs workers.
“The community’s choices will help the designers understand what sorts of playground equipment should be included in the upgrade and where the park should be located,” Cr Greenhill said.
The upgrade will complement the development of the junior playground, completed in 2018.
This project is being funded under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). The WSCD is a 20-year agreement between Australian and NSW governments, and the eight local Councils of the Western Parkland City.
All four district parks in the Blue Mountain – including Springwood’s Buttenshaw Park, Wentworth Falls Lake Park and Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park – will received upgrades valued at more than $5.2 million as part of this program of works.
The design for Glenbrook Park Stage 2 will go on public exhibition, to receive further feedback from the community, next month. You can register, to receive updates on this project.
