Community Fun Day to celebrate Mt Victoria Park upgrades
The community day will be held on Sunday 14 December from 10am to 12pm, featuring face painting, games and more. Residents and visitors are invited to explore the upgraded playspace, picnic areas, and court.
The upgraded park now includes more climbing challenges, a flying fox, a wheelchair-accessible carousel, and sensory play elements.
The upgraded court now facilitates a range of sports such as tennis, basketball, netball and pickleball. All designed based on extensive community feedback.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said the event will be a great opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the latest addition to Mount Victoria Memorial Park.
"We are thrilled to see these upgrades completed. Mount Victoria Memorial Park holds a really special place in the hearts of locals and visitors, and it is now an even more welcoming and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy,” Cr Greenhill said.
“The Mount Victoria community were really involved in the consultation on this project, and the finished result really reflects the ideas and feedback we got from local residents. We can’t wait to come together with the community and celebrate."
The $1 million project was fully funded through the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program.
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman said,“The federal funding for Mount Victoria Memorial Park has created an accessible and modern community playground that can be enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike, keeping facilities close to home for locals and providing incentives for those further afield to stop and support local businesses.”
