The Union Theatre in Lithgow was the venue for the announcement of NSW Government funds for community events.

A number of community grants were unveiled by Deputy Premier Paul Toole and Mayor Maree Statham at the Union Theatre Lithgow on Thursday 8th September. Minister Toole outlined the NSW Government Community Events Program and its importance for reconnecting communities in regional NSW.

The Community Events Program is part of the Reconnecting Regional NSW Grant program that was set up to enable communities to progress in a climate of Covid induced hesitancy and to reconnect regional communities. Community Events were encouraged to apply through the council and ultimately 14 events were successful in obtaining funding through the C.E.P. The diverse mixture of events includes:

  • Nicols Family Circus Picnic at Blast Furnace Park
  • Welcome to Spring at Tarana
  • Festival of Dark Emu and Night Sky at Tarana
  • Natives of the Tablelands exhibition at Gang Gang Gallery Lithgow
  • Natives festival lecture series at Western Sydney University Lithgow
  • 30th Birthday Celebrations at Lithgow Community Nursery
  • Lithgow Halloween
  • Twilight Picnics at Various locations around the Seven Valleys
  • Lithgow Rocks it at Lithgow Blast Furnace Park
  • Blast Furnace Park Christmas
  • Festival of Fire at Lithgow Blast Furnace Park
  • Buzzing Bees ecological plays
  • Markets at Monkey Creek Café Dargan
  • Markets at Petra Avenue Dargan

Mayor Maree Statham said “It was a great pleasure to welcome the event representatives to the Union Theatre for the funding announcement and it is pleasing to see such an eclectic mix of events represented. I look forward to attending these events and seeing the benefits to the community. I thank the NSW Government for the initiative to bring communities together with the Reconnecting Regional NSW program”.

The events program will run over the next 6 months and information about each event will become available on the Seven Valleys Tourism & Events ‘What’s On’ page at here
