CLOSURE – Govetts Leap Upgrade Aug 2022 – Feb 2023
The upgrade will include improvements to the lookout, car park and new accessible pathways to deliver a fully accessible precinct. The car park has been redesigned to improve safety and visitor experience. The new design includes accessible parking and for mini buses at the lookout. Parking for large vehicles including coaches will be provided at the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre.
Minor works around the Heritage Centre are planned including signage, planting and pathways. An approved traffic management plan will be in place to ensure safe access to the Heritage Centre and the Fairfax track. No disruption to the public bus service is expected. The Heritage Centre will remain open throughout the works.
Govetts Leap Road will be closed to vehicles and visitors as per the attached map. However, continuous access to walking tracks will be provided from the Fairfax track throughout the construction period. The lookout toilets will also remain open. Please check for track closures on the NPWS visitor website here.
