Charm Of Finches 2025 Oz Tour W/ Baby Velvet Live In Concert
They return performing songs from their latest album as well as exciting new material. The sisters, Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes, have toured extensively through the UK, Europe and Canada in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Their fourth studio album ‘Marlinchen In The Snow’ was recorded in rural Nova Scotia with acclaimed Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Oh Pep!), inspired by the frozen beauty of the landscape and their transient life on the road with their music. It was released on iconic Australian Indie label Spunk Records in April 2024, debuting on the national ARIA charts Top 30 Aus Albums.
Their third album ‘Wonderful Oblivion’ released in 2021 through New York-based label AntiFragile Music saw them win the Australian Folk Music Awards Best Folk Album (2022) and Music Victoria Best Contemporary Folk Act (2021).
They have been nominated twice for the prestigious Australian Music Prize.
“Wonderful Oblivion is a triumphant indie folk effort – nostalgic yet fresh, haunting, but at the same time serene. ” – We Found New Music
“Melbourne sister duo Charm of Finches are perched for stardom. For lovers of tight sibling harmonies, chamber folk, and those who long to be carried-away by a lullaby…” – Ariana Morgenstern KCRW Today’s Top Tune
+ Special Guest Baby Velvet
Hannah Crofts, under her new moniker Baby Velvet, is on a mission to find whether you always get what you deserve. Her soaring harmonies and aching lyrics are gloriously gritty and heart-wrenching but always familiar with hard-won reflections on the artist’s life.
As one quarter of the indie folk group, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Crofts has toured the world in vintage gowns and rhinestone boots. The band’s debut When We Fall reached #6 on the ARIA charts and won an ARIA for Best Blues and Roots Album.
In early 2022 she released her debut solo album, ‘Please Don’t Be In Love With Someone Else’, produced by LA legend Kevin Ratterman and Melbourne royalty James Gilligan. It features songs like ‘What The Hell Is Wrong With Me’ and ‘Normal People’ with reflections on heartbreak and repeating the same mistakes. The album reaches the zenith of self-doubt with Best in Show, a song about the darker realities of being a touring musician. Lines like ‘room service and hotel rooms are all I have to offer you’ are reminiscent of Charley Pride’s classic, All I have to offer you (is me).
An activist and musician, Crofts feels the world sparkle around her. Baby Velvet inspires lucid rage, clarity and power from which to take on the world. Her soaring harmonies and aching lyrics are gloriously gritty and heart-wrenching but always familiar with hard-won reflections on the artist’s life. This is strident power pop that saturates and sparkles while sinking sharp teeth into the patriarchy. There is no turning back.
