To mark Families Week (15-21 May) Blue Mountains City Council is celebrating all the different expressions of “family” we have living in our beautiful City.

Blue Mountains residents are invited to share pictures of what “family” means to them. Photographs and drawings can be shared on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #celebratingbluemountainsfamilies until 14 May. Pictures can also be sent or dropped off to Council offices in Katoomba and Springwood.

We will then feature a selection of these images on our social media pages and our new website during Families Week 2018.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill encouraged residents to share pictures of their family, to help paint the picture of what “family” means in the Blue Mountains.

“The aim of National Families Week is to celebrate the vital role that families play in Australian society,” he said. “Join us to celebrate all the different types of families in our community.”

National Families Week coincides with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May.

This day is observed by the United Nations to mark the importance that the international community places on families as the most fundamental units of society, as well as to show concern about their situation in many parts of the world.

The theme for National Families Week is ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’.

Share your family pictures on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #celebratingbluemountainsfamilies

You can also send, or hand deliver, your pictures to Blue Mountains City Council at:

  • 2-6 Civic Place, Katoomba NSW 2780.
  • 104 Macquarie Road, Springwood NSW 2777.

Share your photos until May 14.
