Come and be a part of Australia’s biggest community tree planting event in Lithgow.

Council would like to invite the community to come along to celebrate the start of spring by planting a tree for the 23rd annual Planet Ark National Tree Day. The event, usually held in July, is being celebrated at the slightly warmer time of spring here in Lithgow.

Councils and project partners Lithgow Oberon Landcare Association are aiming to establish 400 native plants to improve habitat connectivity and improve the biodiversity along this section of Farmers Creek. The works are consistent with the aims outlined within the Farmers Creek Precinct Masterplan.

The National Tree Day event will be held on Thursday 6th September 2018 at 10.00 am until 12.30 pm at Albert Street Bridge near the sports grounds. It will be followed by a free sausage sizzle hosted by the Lithgow Lions Club.

Lithgow Mayor, Stephen Lesslie, says, “National Tree Day is an opportunity for you to do something positive for your community and the environment. I hope to see lots of our Lithgow community members coming out to celebrate National Tree Day by planting some native plants at this family friendly event”.

Since Tree Day started in 1996, 4 million people have planted over 24 million trees and plants and it's still growing. National Tree Day shows how every little bit helps and adds up to a lot!
