Calling young Blue Mountains musicians to perform at ECHO!
ECHO will showcase the best of Blue Mountains young musical talent offering the chance to gain performance experience and exposure, while providing entertainment for young people in the region.
Performers will be chosen via panel, with the winners announced at the end of September and selected acts paid $50 per person to perform a half-hour set.
“It’s so important for our young people to have access to live entertainment and for budding and accomplished musicians to have the chance to perform locally,” Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said.
“We’re encouraging both local individuals acts and bands to apply to perform at this free event at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.
“Council’s recent research with young people aged 12 – 25 told us they would like to see more live music and to have more opportunities to perform outside of pubs and clubs.
“To this end, we’re aiming to provide more free events of this kind and to ensure the Cultural Centre is a youth-inclusive space.”
Blue Mountains Youth Councillor Amelia Granger, who will be part of the selection panel for this event, said, “Live music in the Blue Mountains is so important to young people. It allows us to socialise and connect with amazing people who are just like us.”
Interested musicians who are Blue Mountains residents can download the expressions of interest (EOI) form and apply before the closing date at the end of August. Applications are open to individual artists and bands with up to five members.
ECHO will be held Saturday 15 November, 12pm-3pm at Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Katoomba (Wet Weather venue will be Tibbi Whalan Hall, Civic Arcade Katoomba).
All are welcome at this free drug and alcohol free event and there is no need to register.
