Lithgow Council has commenced a community consultation process for the design of new town signage at the entrances to Lithgow, Wallerawang and Portland.

When you arrive at a new place, first impressions matter. Welcoming, creative signage can convey a good impression of the place.  To ensure that the community has a voice in this initiative, the Council is calling for local artists, fabricators, designers, and members of the community to bring forward their ideas and design concepts for what these new signs might look like.

The Council is calling for submissions that include an artistic impression of the concept, and a brief description outlining how the concept ties into the history of the area and delivers a visual representation of our story.

The design should be artistically distinct, relevant to the community, easy to manufacture and maintain, and most importantly, create a sense of entry for people visiting the area.

Expressing her enthusiasm on the prospect of new signage, Lithgow City Council Mayor Maree Statham said, “Lithgow is on the cusp of significant change, as a tourism destination, residential alternative and an economic hub for the central west, it is crucial that we highlight our towns and villages through a strong visual identity.” The Mayor continued by saying “the signs need to make a positive impact on visitors and potential future residents from the moment they first enter our towns and villages.”

Lithgow Council will be accepting design submissions from Monday 27th May until Monday 24th June. To obtain further information and to make a design submission, please visit here
