Budding Blue Mountains writer wins Poetry Slam Heat
The event, hosted by Katoomba Library and held at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre on 31 August, showcased poets performing their original compositions within a two-minute timeframe.
Hazelbrook ten-year-old Sabine Schofield captivated the audience with her passionate performance and thought-provoking verses on the topic of climate change.
Her winning piece, crafted for a class project on Slam poetry, drew admiration from the audience-selected judges.
The Year Five student’s creativity and dedication have propelled her to the State level, where Sabine will compete against other talented poets with the further prospect of competing at the National finals.
The World Travels Blue Mountains Poetry Slam heat is renowned for fostering artistic expression and providing a platform for emerging poets to shine.
This year's event was no exception, and Sabine Schofield's triumph is a testament to the power of words and the passion of young artists.
While the Blue Mountains community celebrates Sabine's victory, all eyes are on her as she prepares to make her mark at the State level and beyond.
