Book Marks Mountains’ Foodie Renaissance

A dozen restaurants and producers from the region have been featured in the latest publication in the award-winning Flavours Of series produced by Melbourne-based Smudge Publishing.
The tome features beautiful photography, delicious recipes and the stories of the people behind the produce across seven sensational regions of the state.
Flavours of NSW explores the state’s amazing culinary scene to give locals and visitors alike an in-depth guide to NSW’ best, including the funky Leura Garage serving regional "fun dining" and Escarpment Group with 10 dining venues across Lilianfels Resort & Spa, Echoes Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, Parklands Country Gardens & Lodges with its kitchen garden and the world-famous Hydro Majestic Hotel.
Smudge Publishing partnerships manager Kiah Constam said she was inspired by the stories and the passion of restauranteurs, chefs, producers, winemakers and chocolatiers of the Blue Mountains region.
"It’s a really special part of NSW and we are glad to be able to shine a spotlight on it."
Leura Garage owner James Howarth said the "magnificent" Flavours of NSW was an opportunity to highlight some of the excellent producers and suppliers used by Blue Mountains venues from the neighbouring NSW Central West.
Proud to be "standing in the best region in New South Wales", the Blue Mountains was experiencing a renaissance as a food and wine destination, Mr Howarth said.
Smudge publisher Jonette George said NSW’ food and drink offerings rivalled some of the world’s finest and urged readers to travel to the regions showcased to sample the produce.
"Chefs from all over the world have been drawn to the possibilities that NSW’ environment has to offer, creating exceptional dishes from the state’s abundance of produce.
"With so much to explore, staying overnight turns a meal into a holiday. Take your culinary memories back to the kitchen – signature recipes from a selection of the state’s best chefs mean you can replicate your fantastic dining experience in the comfort of your own home."
Flavours of NSW (RRP $80) is available at venues mentioned in the book including Leura Garage and the Hydro Majestic Pavilion, all good bookshops and online.
