Blue Mountains to Shine to Millions of US Television Viewers
As a photographer, filmmaker and travel writer who spends more nights sleeping under the stars than indoors, show host Eric Hanson will travel to the Blue Mountains to showcase one of Australia’s most picturesque World Heritage-listed areas.
Member of the Legislative Council and Blue Mountains resident Shayne Mallard MP said the activity, which was secured by the NSW Government, is a great opportunity to shine a bright light on everything the Blue Mountains has to offer.
“From abseiling and hiking to experiencing our world-class accommodation, Epic Trails will be capturing some of our region’s best travel experiences, enticing US visitors to book a trip to this beautiful part of the world,” Mr Mallard said.
“Attracting international travellers to our region brings significant economic benefits to our local tourism industry, putting more heads on beds, diners in our restaurants and shoppers in our boutiques.”
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the US is a priority market for NSW.
“Our State is the most popular Australian destination for Americans and in the last five years to the year ended June 2018, US visitors to NSW have increased by an incredible 60 per cent, making these high-value travellers our second most lucrative inbound tourism market,” Mr Marshall said.
“Our investment in programs such as these will keep us on a growth trajectory as we work towards tripling overnight visitor expenditure and reaching $25 billion in regional visitor expenditure by 2030.
“We know US visitors love what Sydney and regional NSW has to offer, and this opportunity gives us the chance to inspire even more visitors to come and see our world-famous attractions and landscapes.”
The filming opportunity will see Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Snowy Mountains featured in a 30-minute episode of Epic Trails later next year.
Filming is scheduled to commence in the Blue Mountains today (25 November).
