Blue Mountains Region to Benefit from $100 Million Boost to TAFE NSW

The TAFE NSW campuses in the Blue Mountains, which has campuses at Wentworth Falls and Katoomba, are set to benefit from their share of a $100 million state-wide investment in TAFE NSW facilities and equipment.

Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee announced this week that more than 140 campuses across the state will receive funding for plant and teaching equipment upgrades, and programmed maintenance.

“The NSW Government has already committed $160 million to reskill 100,000 people as part of its Skilling for Recovery initiative. And now, we’re investing a further $100 million to provide state of the art training facilities for the people of NSW,” Mr Lee said.

Government Member of Parliament and Blue Mountains resident Shayne Mallard MP welcomed the announcement.

“I’m excited to see the investment the NSW Government is making to maintain and upgrade public training facilities in the Blue Mountains area,” Mr Mallard said.

At Wentworth Falls campus the investment will focus on campus maintenance programs including minor construction, plumbing, fire safety, and electrical.

Funding will also be allocated to the Blue Mountains campuses for a range of new training equipment including massage beds, wax pots, and a facial steamer with trolley.

“Contrary to local Labor’s regular fake news about the demise of TAFE, the investment in TAFE and training has never been stronger nor more important for the NSW Liberal government,”

“Investment in training is critical to the success of our state’s economy; the key to getting a great job is having access to the best training and facilities,” Mr Mallard said.
