Blue Mountains Meet The Orchestra
Currently in year eleven at St Columba's School, Springwood, Mr Parbery is very active in the local music scene. In addition to being concertmaster of WSYO, he is a member of SYO Philharmonic, Penrith Symphony Orchestra and The Blue Mountains Orchestra.
Mr Parbery said he is “working hard to juggle many musical and educational commitments” and that as a performer he “works hard at perfecting the intricate details in music making to bring out the passion behind the music.” In the future Mr Parbery hopes to pursue performing as a professional career.
Mr Parbery will be joined on stage by Blaxland local Rebekah Davison, who plays French Horn with WSYO.
Miss Davison began playing with WSYO in its inaugural year, 2017. Currently, Miss Davison is studying a Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Education, majoring in Primary Education, she says she “enjoys bringing music to life in the classroom” while completing her practicum placements.
She hopes to ensure that all her students “have the opportunity to fall in love with and learn the language of music” and she looks forward to doing this at the upcoming Meet The Orchestra performances.
Both Mr. Parbery and Miss Davison agree that WSYO has provided them with many important performance opportunities and that performances and events held for younger audiences are important for bringing classical music to more people across Greater Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
Meet the Orchestra concerts are a wonderful way to introduce orchestral music to families and young children.
