Blue Mountains In Bloom With All New Arts Funding From Create NSW
A series of public programs celebrating 2018 NAIDOC in conjunction with the exhibition John South: Skyworld represents one of six diverse projects sharing over $256,000 as part of the second round of Create NSW’s annual Arts & Cultural Projects funding on behalf of the NSW Government.
The program will include panel discussions with leading Aboriginal astronomers and artists, stargazing with scientists from Penrith and Linden Observatories and artist John South (Barkindji), as well as holiday programs for five to 16-year-olds.
“It is a pleasure to bring this fascinating array of experiences to life across NSW through our support of a varied range of organisations and artforms,” said Minister Harwin.
“Whether a unique perspective, opportunity for discussion, collaboration or simply pure entertainment, these projects have a lot to offer. It’s an exciting mix that I know will be well received across the respective communities.”
Open to individual artists, arts and cultural workers, partnerships and organisations, the funding supports professional projects at any stage of the creative process, with the aim of delivering a more vibrant and accessible arts and cultural sector in NSW.
Support of up to $75,000 is available per project, with two funding rounds carried out per year enabling opportunities to increase the accessibility of arts across the state and for professional development in the small-to-medium arts and cultural sector.
Mr Mallard added, “This is a substantial investment into the local arts and culture and I look forward to welcoming this exciting project from NAIDOC to the area.”
