Blue Mountains City Council invites the community to stand together and say NO to violence against women and children at the 2025 Mayoral Breakfast, to be held on Tuesday 25 November.

This annual event raises awareness of the?impacts of domestic and family violence and highlights the new approaches and collective action needed to prevent it. The 2025 program features a range of speakers including Mayor Mark Greenhill OAM, representatives from Plus Community, and Mountains Men Against Violence.?

Mayor Mark Greenhill said raising awareness remains one of the most powerful tools for change.?

“Domestic and family violence is a whole-of-society issue and each one of us can work together to end it.?

“This event is not only for those directly impacted by gendered violence but for everyone who wants to help create a safer and more equitable future.”?

Speakers Hannah Stanley and Jamie Stedman of Plus Community will discuss the organisation’s broad range of support services, including support for men’s behaviour change.?

Rod Titovs from Mountains Men Against Violence will also present insights from his research, which highlights the need for gender-equitable approaches in schools, parenting, sports and media to promote inclusive and respectful models of masculinity.?

The Mayoral Breakfast marks the launch of Council’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, a calendar of community events dedicated to ending violence against women and children. Beginning on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November), the global campaign concludes on Human Rights Day, 10 December.?
