Lake Wallace is currently experiencing high levels of blue green algae, and a Red Alert has been issued by the NSW Office of Water.

With the presence of blue green algae in the water, Lake Wallace is not suitable for any activities that involve direct contact with the water by humans or animals.

Sampling of the Lakes will continue and an updated alert status will be reported when information becomes available. Lake Lyell is currently not affected by blue green algae and remains suitable for recreational activities.

More information on algae alerts is available from the algal information line maintained by the NSW Office of Water, at 1800 999 457 or the NSW Office of Water web page.
