The main event for Youth Week 2022 was held on 9 April at Tony Luchetti Showground and Ballroom. The event was organised by Lithgow’s Youth Council and supported by local sports clubs and businesses.

The day commenced at 10:15 am with activities by Lithgow City Rangers Soccer Club and Bathurst Giants AFL Club. The Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham recognised the Youth Council team’s passion and dedication.

Special guests for the event were punk rocker friends Madam Fatale and Trash Baby who were thoroughly impressed by the quality of young talent on display. Corin Shearston, drummer from Trash Baby said, “Tuppence provided the folk duo harmonies and heartstring tugging while headlining Lithgow family band Hollow Point blew us away with their selection of classic rock covers. Highlights included the Mayor asking us to play a song for her, Hollow Point’s 11-year old Evie, singing lead vocals on ‘Crazy Train’ by Ozzy Osbourne, and people dancing the Nutbush”.

The day was enjoyed by all and ended with a raffle. Prices for the event were sponsored by High Street Music and Sports and More Lithgow. Prizes went to: Hayley Pilarcik, Chelsea Drapes, Lenny Hayes and Hippy Curran.  The event was supported by Headspace Lithgow and Anytime Fitness. Special youth photographer Ronan De Vries recorded the best moments of the event.
