Author Talk – Kim Hodges – Girl Over the Edge

You are invited to hear academic and author Kim Hodges talk about her latest book Girl Over the Edge, a behind the scenes look at how and why she wrote her memoir on her own lived experience of mental illness.

“With mental illness very much in the spotlight in Lithgow, this author presentation will be of interest to a wide section of the local community,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Stephen Lesslie.

Kim’s presentation will give you an insight into mental illness and also challenge beliefs, attitudes and reduce the stigma in society around mental illness. Have you ever wondered what happens in a mental health clinic or hospital? Or what an episode of severe depression feels like? Kim talks about her experience in a raw, honest and confronting way that will strike a nerve with the listener.

The author talk will be held on Thursday 10 May at 11am followed by light refreshments and questions. Copies of Kim’s book Girl Over the Edge will be on sale for $30 at the presentation.
