With an impressive track record for her age that includes shows like The Addams Family and The Little Mermaid, Sabina Salas stars in this magical production being presented by Richmond Players – celebrating its 66th anniversary – in a collaboration with Richmond High School.

Director, Josephine Dwyer (Springwood) says, “This is our second year working with Richmond High School. We don’t just tap into local community talents, but we work closely with staff and utilise the students to create a unique collaboration. It's a great opportunity for the students to learn more about how a musical production of this scale comes together. It offers experience not just in performance, but behind the scenes as well.”

Sabina will be joined on stage by other talented Blue Mountains performers, including Jake Wholohan (Glenbrook) as the Scarecrow, Craig Wynn-Jones (Glenbrook) as the tap-dancing Tinman, and Adrian Evangelista (Warrimoo) as the Lion. While this is her first production with Richmond Players, Sabina has been loving the experience.

“I have wanted to play the role of Dorothy ever since I was little and would watch my grandmother’s video of The Wizard of Oz when I visited her. Everything about the rehearsal process has been amazing and I can’t wait for people to see our production. It is very special.”

With choreography by Blue Mountains dancer Amber Hook, and musical direction by David Catterall, the creative team for The Wizard of Oz has about 40 years combined experience amongst them.

Audiences will hear all the classics, like ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ and “If I only had a Brain’, as well as being able to meet their favourite characters after the show, including Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion and Glinda the good witch of the North.

The Wizard of Oz will perform at Richmond High School for 8 shows only.
