Art Deco Revival for Party Palace
The Hydro Majestic Hotel at Medlow Bath will host several stylish retro events to pay homage to the decade when the Blue Mountains cut loose in an endless round of hedonism led by department store doyenne who held legendary and often outrageous parties at his "palace in the wilderness".
Hydro Majestic guest services manager Meagan Iervasi said: "We’re still (elegantly) partying!"
The Charleston Challenge for Charity will open celebrations in front of the Hydro Majestic Pavilion at 11am.
No experience is necessary to take part, with pre-event performances by the Sydney Swing Katz dance troupe and registration from 10am.
The aim will be to have fun at a shared activity and raise money for charity. Gold coin donations will go towards Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service.
After dancing up an appetite, guests are encouraged to stay on for a sumptuous regional food and wine repast at the Majestic Long Lunch and the Gangster Casino Charity Night.
Ms Iervasi encouraged retro buffs to start planning their costumes, practice the dance routine and book festival events and accommodation.
"The Roaring 20s Festival is one of the biggest events on the Blue Mountains calendar and gives people an extra reason to come to the region.
"Costume competition is fierce and people have been known to practice their dance moves for months.
"Some people fully immerse themselves in the theme and come up for a couple of days so they can attend every event."
The Charleston Challenge for Charity will be held at the Hydro Majestic Hotel, Great Western Hwy, Medlow Bath, at 11am on Saturday, February 24, with dance performances and registration from 10am. Cost: gold coin donation to Blue Mountains RFS. Registration and other event bookings and details: online or phone (02) 4782 6885.

One-hour sightseeing tours of art deco landmarks of Katoomba and Leura in 1929 Cadillac LaSalle cars will be conducted by Blue Mountains Vintage Cadillacs throughout the weekend. Cost: $59pp. Bookings: email@example.com.
