Armistice Centenary Grants Commemorate End of WW1
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, said Expressions of Interest have opened, with up to $50,000 available to organisations in the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains.
“Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed in France between the Allies and Germany, which led to the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front,” Ms Templeman said.
“2018 is the 100th anniversary of that moment, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning - the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month - and the Armistice Centenary Grants Program honours that event.”
The grants program will support projects or activities that commemorate the end of the First World War.
“One-off grants of between $3,000 and $50,000 are available and I encourage those in the community who want to contribute to such a significant period in our nation’s history to submit an Expression of Interest to my office,” Ms Templeman said.
“All applications received will be assessed by a Community Consultation Committee, whose role will be to measure which community projects will best commemorate the Centenary of Armistice locally, and assist me in reviewing all proposals.
“Nominated applications will then be submitted to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs for assessment.”
The Department’s assessments will begin on 11 November 2017 and close on 28 February 2018.
General information about the grant is available at www.dva.gov.au and the Expression of Interest form can be found below.
Further information and the program guidelines are available on the GrantConnect website.
“Expressions of Interest forms can be lodged with my office anytime between now and 15 December 2017,” Ms Templeman said.
