The Annual Reg Cowden Awards were presented recently at the Australia Day Celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday 26th January 2020.

Councillor Joe Smith was delighted to announce the winners of the awards being;

2019 Encouragement Award – Emily Thompson for Hockey

2019 Junior Team Achievement of the Year – Lithgow Storm U16’s Junior Rugby League Team

2019 Senior Team Achievement of the Year – Lithgow Workmen’s Wolves Reserve Grade Team

2019 Reg Cowden Memorial Junior Sports Star of the Year – Zeke Evans for Basketball

2019 Reg Cowden Memorial Senior Sports Star of the Year – Graeme Glazebrook for Cricket Umpiring.

Lithgow City Council would like to congratulate all the award winners and thank the major sponsors LJ Hooker Lithgow, The Reg Cowden Memorial Trust and a special thank you to Mayor – Cr Ray Thompson, Deputy Mayor - Cr Steve Ring, Cr Wayne McAndrew, Cr Joe Smith, Cr Deanna Goodsell, Cr Cassandra Coleman, Cr Maree Statham, Cr Darryl Goodwin, Cr Stephen Lesslie.

Special appreciation is extended to Mr. Jamie Giokaris and LJ Hooker Lithgow and for their continued support and sponsorship, Also a special appreciation is extended to Mr. Peter Watson and the 2LT/Move FM team for their continued support and promotion of the Reg Cowden Awards throughout the last 25 years.

The remaining awards will be recognized at an afternoon tea to be held in the Council Chambers in March 2020.

Nominations for outstanding sporting achievements in December 2019/ January 2020 are now being accepted until Friday 7th February 2020, and nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Council’s Customer Service Department. Teams as well as individuals are encouraged to submit a nomination
