2016 Blue Mountains Business Award Winners Announced

2016 Blue Mountains Business Awards Dinner
Friday 14th October was a night of celebration for over 80 Blue Mountains businesses celebrating success at the Fairmont Resort, Leura and anxiously awaiting the results of the Business Awards. Over 260 people were in the room when Candy Stripe Circus kicked the night off with an aerial act followed by a night of announcements of award winners.

MC, Katherine Hawes from Digital Age Lawyers entertained the audience and kept the evening moving through the 20 awards presentations and The Billies, a group of Blaxland High boys, received huge applause after they did a medley of 60's & 70's songs..

The Mountain Heritage Hotel & Spa Retreat won the Blue Mountains Accommodation Award and was surprised and delighted to win the Harry Hammon Business of the Year Award. Philip Hammon, Director of Scenic World, sponsor of this award since inception in 2007, presented CEO Eric Sward with the prestigious Harry Hammon Award along with a South Pacific cruise for two.

Three businesses were very successful each winning more than one award. They were Richards Financial Services, winning Excellence in Business Ethics, Business Services and a Highly Commended in Employer of Choice; Mortgage Choice @ Blue Mountains & Penrith who won Excellence in Small Business and tied for first place in Business Services. Rubyfruit once again won the Excellence in Sustainability award and also the Hospitality award.

The very popular BlueMountainsAustralia.com People’s Choice Award was won by Glen Isla Luxury Blue Mountains Accommodation and was presented by Ben Curran of Stralia Web.

The Blue Mountains Regional Business Chamber won the Chamber of Commerce award which was judged by the NSW Business Chamber and presented by Regional Manager, Michelle Caruso. The award was accepted by 8 Members of the Board and Executive General Manager, Julie Bargenquast. President, Peita Davies said, “this is such an honour in my first year as President to take out this prestigious Award and I thank the Board and the General Manager for making it happen with their focus, progressive attitude and diligence in creating a vibrant and engaged business community.”

The Chamber is very proud to have winners of our state aligned categories representing the region in the State finals in November. They are: Richards Financial Services, Mortgage Choice Blue Mountains & Penrith, Woodford Homes, Choice Home Loans Penrith & Blue Mountains, Andrea Turner-Boys (Women with Altitude), Alicia Windeisen (Conveyancing Smart) and Kylie McInerney (Blue Mountains YHA) along with the Regional Business Chamber. The Chamber wish each of them every success in the NSW State Awards.  The full list of all winning and highly commended businesses follows:
