$15 Million for Highway Safety Upgrade at Faulconbridge

A Shorten Labor Government would invest $15 million to deliver much needed safety improvements along the Great Western Highway at Faulconbridge.

Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development Anthony Albanese confirmed that if elected, a Labor Government would in its first budget lock in funding for Safety upgrades to the notorious stretch of the Great Western Highway at Faulconbridge.

Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman said Federal Labor would provide $15 million to realign the Great Western Highway between Bellevue Road and Weemala Avenue in Faulconbridge.

"The funding will provide wider shoulders, better drainage and centre barrier to improve safety for motorists and cyclists," said Ms Templeman.

"An application for Black Spot road funding for this notorious stretch of road was rejected by the Federal Government back in 2017, with the minister at the time advised me that the cost exceeded the Black Spot funding limit of $2 million - and that was that.

"Given the danger faced by cyclists and motorists on this part of the Highway, simply ignoring the problem is not good enough.

"If elected, a Labor Government will provide $15 million to improve safety for all road users along this dangerous part of the Great Western Highway at Faulconbridge."
