Valley Heights is an historic railway village.

Valley Heights features a Locomotive Depot Railway Museum which has restricted opening times. The team of volunteers for this small museum plan to open it to the public on a more regular basis in the future.

Valley Heights also features a rural area called Sun Valley. Sun Valley is a great location for Horse Riding with Sun Valley Reserve offering a large open space.

A small industrial area with several car repair shops and other small are is located just off the Great Western Highway.

The town also offers Peninsula Park, a small park located on Peninsula Road and Benoit Park on Cambridge Street.
