Double Bill: Amphibious + Gary Daley and Friends
Date:Fri 18 May 2012
Amphibious combines the beauty and expressive depth of classical music, with the rhythmic and
improvisational approach of jazz and the sound of alternative/post rock and pop. Their new CD Splendid Virgins, a title drawn from C15th Spain, also explores ‘50s musicals, German Baroque and recent pop/rock musical language.
Influences range from Bach, Keith Jarrett to Radiohead.
We welcome cellist Ollie Miller back to Springwood, he played last November in Sanctuary. Ollie is joined by Richard Maegraith saxophone and clarinet, Aaron Flower guitar and Jamie Cameron playing the drums. Music critic John Shand has described Miller’s playing in Amphibious as “Opulence and edginess superbly exploited”.
Plus a first set by Gary Daley & Friends
Gary Daley accordion, Llew Kiek bozouki, Brett Hirst bass
Fri. May 18th, 8.00 pm
Tickets $30 / $20con.
