The 2012 Blue Mountains Film Festival is expanding it's entry categories this year to include Feature Films for the first time. The festival also has two other new film categories for 2012 - 'Short Films - Comedy' & 'Music Videos'
"Opening up the festival for feature entries has been talked about for a while. We think now is the right time & are all excited to see what is out there in 2012." says Tom Taylor - Festival Director.

The 2011 festival was a great success with 'The Yowie Awards' a definite highlight for filmmakers last year. A new set of gold & silver Yowies are already making their way from the foundry thanks to Blue Mountains designer Paul Begg. Also for 2012, Scenic World is offering a $2000 major prize.

The 2012 festival will be held from the 11th to the 13th of October this year at Scenic World in Katoomba with further events also planned for the Leura & Katoomba areas.

Encore Screenings.

Encore Screenings of the 2011 prize winning & finalist films will be taking place at three locations around the Blue Mountains area over late May & early June.

"We want to make sure that everyone in the Blue Mountains area has a chance to see the best of last October's festival. We have been able to secure three fantastic locations in Mt Vic Flicks, The Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens, & The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Center for our screenings. This will allow people to see all of the best films from last October's three day festival in one evening. There will be over two hours of films screening, with an intermission half way through at each venue." - Tom Taylor

Dates for the Encore Screenings are Saturday the 26th of May at Mt Vic Flicks, Mt Victoria, Saturday the 2nd of June at the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens, Mt Tomah, & Saturday the 9th of June at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith. All session times start at 7pm. Tickets are $10. Entry is limited to 18+ years. Tickets can be purchased directly from each of the three venues.
