Lithgow City Council’s draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan is on public exhibition until 5 June 2017.

The plan outlines strategies and actions that Council aims to implement over a four year period, to enable people with a disability to better access services, facilities and support.

“The draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan will see work undertaken within Council and across the community to improve access and inclusion,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Stephen Lesslie. “The plan will assist Council to make changes to internal processes and practices, improve access to information, create employment opportunities, and support community activities for people living with disability”.

The plan has been developed in consultation with residents, local organisations, school groups and Council’s previous Disability Access Committee. The consultation process provided Council with diverse insights which informed the actions and outcomes within the plan.

“This is a positive move in the right direction. The plan will assist Council in creating an inclusive and accessible community. I’d like to congratulate everyone who has contributed to this initiative so far,” concluded the Mayor.

The draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan will be on exhibition for a period of 28 days from 9 May 2017 to 5 June 2017 to allow community members the opportunity to comment. Copies of the plan are available to view on Council’s website, or hard copies can be viewed at Council’s Customer Service Centre and libraries. Please forward all comments to the Community Development Department at %127%134%146%166%231%185%222%218%153%222%173%188%158%139%181%224%117%166%219%236%126%153%163%187%168%146%200%134  or mail your comments to PO Box 19, Lithgow, NSW, 2790.
