Coalition delivering $120,000 for CCTV in Leura
The Safer Communities Fund is a grassroots level grant programme to assist local communities address crime and anti-social behaviour and support crime prevention initiatives to keep our streets and communities safe.
Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Marise Payne said she was pleased to announce that funding of $120,000 has been granted to Leura Village Association to enable them to purchase and install 17 CCTV cameras to keep our community safe from local crime and anti-social behaviour.
“The cameras will be installed along the Leura Mall and adjacent lanes and streets of Leura where there is most pedestrian and vehicle traffic, to monitor and prevent crime and deter antisocial behaviour around the mall,” Senator Payne said.
“As we all know, CCTV and security infrastructure has been a pivotal factor in both solving crimes and preventing crimes.
“The Coalition wants to reduce crime levels and provide a safer environment for the residents and visitors to Leura Mall,” Senator Payne said.
“That’s why the Coalition’s Safer Communities Fund is such a significant and important investment in cracking down on local crime and anti-social behaviour in Macquarie.”
Minister Keenan said under the Safer Communities Fund, local councils and community organisations will receive funding to boost their crime prevention initiatives through the installation of fixed and mobile CCTV or lighting.
“The Coalition Government has a strong track record when it comes to protecting community safety. We recognise that the best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour is to prevent it from happening,” Minister Keenan said.
“Our top priority will always be to keep our citizens and our communities safe.”
This Government will continue to put funds towards projects that make Macquarie a safer place.
