From as early as the turn of the century, people have sought the clean air, and immaculate beauty of the Blue Mountains as an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. These mountains have spawned a number of luxury guesthouses to accommodate the many visitors to the area. Each bed and breakfast has a distinct style and hospitality.
They certainly flourished until about the 1960s.

The 1980s saw a resurgence in the guesthouses of the Blue Mountains, with many of the older buildings once again breathing new life. Historically a retreat from the summer heat of Sydney, today the Blue Mountains have become the ultimate 'winter' weekend-escape. The chill of the crisp mountain air, the hope of a fall of snow in combination with the ambience of open log fires, and the nostalgia of grand old guesthouses, continues to draw people, young and old to the beautiful Blue Mountains of Australia, especially Katoomba, the "Queen City of the Hills".

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS MAGAZINE

In November 1998 Kurrara Guesthouse was featured
on the cover the Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.

Kurrara is certainly sharing in the current resurgence of guest houses in the Blue Mountains. Renovated and fully restored, it boasts eight guest rooms, each with ensuite facilities. Kurrara bed & breakfast complete with two sitting rooms and a large breakfast room, is also centrally heated and has four lovely open fire-places. It's perfect for that romantic getaway.

Remember that hard day's walk would not be complete without a soak in your heated spa when you return.
