Saturday 4th April, 2009 Non-stop fun for all the family 9.00am - 4.30pm
This year's Springwood Foundation Day on Saturday, April 4 will reach new heights of activities and community participation. Hundreds of performers will entertain the 35,000 strong crowds, with three to four stages delivering a feast of local and visiting talent. The ever popular parade will again be a main feature this year, filling the main street with performers, school students, cars, floats and community group displays. The parade starts at 12 noon at the Springwood Baptist Church on the corner of Macquarie Road and Homedale Street. At 10.00am, the flag raising ceremony will take place in the town square, immediately followed by the official opening. Recognising the commitment of our army of local volunteers will be special feature of the ceremony, with the award for the Springwood Volunteer of the Year presented. Any community member of group wishing to reward someone active in the community can nominate in writing to Springwood Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 132, Springwood, 2777. There will be a variety of activities running throughout the day including walking tours co-ordinated by Springwood Historical Society, roaming street performers, a children's zoo, static military display, a variety of rides in the Franklins car park - and don't forget the red-coated musketeers, who always go off with a bang.
