Set on spacious grounds against a background of towering mountain pines, Balquhain Manor House is a beautifully restored 1885 heritage-listed property. It was originally built by Englishman George Evans, and until a few years ago the mountain retreat of the Fairfax publishing family, Balquhain now offers guests the opportunity to enjoy the charming and tranquil atmosphere of a fine country house.
Balquhain Manor House offers three guest bedrooms with ensuite or private facilities - a fourth bedroom and bathroom is available for group bookings. Each looks out over the gardens and has snug bedding and electric blankets to ensure a restful night.
There are two cosy guest lounge rooms, one with a fireplace and both with plenty of comfortable spots to relax and unwind. Breakfasts are hearty and are served in the elegant dining room with its open fire, or on the verandah if the weather allows.
The wide verandahs overlook two acres of mature English gardens with tennis court, boules pitch, croquet lawn and duckpond. A variety of magnificent conifers, deciduous trees, rhododendrons and azaleas provide glorious colour through the seasons. Benches throughout the gardens allow for privacy to read etc.
